Well, the last few days have been full of work but also full of blessing.
We had the Parenting Class. We now have someone who will take charge of the class during the year 2006 and it has been a success. The people are very receptive and left the class feeling encouraged and hopeful of having better homes. What’s more, everyone was able to take home a large bag of clothes for their family. The Social Services group of a church came with a lot of bags of all types of clothing; washed, organized, and divided. The laid out the clothing in such a way that each person was able to take home whatever necessary for his/her family. What God can do through a willing heart! Things that are in His heart.
Do you remember out beloved Jonathan? Well, I am sorry to tell you that he is no longer in the school because of a decision that I made. The truth is that he maintained a bad attitude all the time and I was out of resources. Possibly he will want to change in the future, but in the meantime I cannot expose the rest of the class to his attitude.
Now let’s move on to news of Diego. I am praying to be able to bring him to my home for a week and see what happens. Another option would be with Janina, one of the teachers. She says that she wants to help me with him, so she could be in charge of him until his grandmother gets home from work. His grandmother says that Diego is very disobedient, he doesn’t listen, and he is hanging around another boy who smells glue. His mom hasn’t been home in 2 days. Diego is very affected by this. I just spoke with his grandmother by phone and they want to take him to a family member in Huehuetenango… let God’s will be done in his life. I will tell you what happens. I only ask that you please help me to pray for him.
We received a special offering this week. A person from Atlanta contacted me by internet because she was coming to adopt a baby and wanted to bring something to the school... someone that I don’t know and that happened onto our web page!! She brought so many useful things!!! They had a farewell party for her and she asked that in her farewell party they bring things for us. They also brought an offering. We bought a paper cutter, a CD player, I gave a small offering to the teachers who are voluntarily serving full-time and I have not yet been able to give them a better salary. God is so good! Also, we took the children one morning to Play Zone, something that they can’t even imagine exits, a place where they can expend energy and enjoy something new.
As you can see, we have gone through January and February, without debt!!!! There is a family that is giving a monthly amount for food. This year, the year we started without food, has been the year the children have eaten best! Isn’t God wonderful and faithful? I can already see that some of the children have fuller faces. Herbert is one of them. Generally, his mother doesn’t work. Herbert says that if no one lends them money to eat then they eat bread and coffee or nothing at all. But he has had a good breakfast and vitamins with us every day. Isn’t that moving? The word of God is fulfilled where it says that He will give food to the hungry and He is doing it by way of willing hearts. How big is He!
There is so much to tell, but it is better to tell just a little, that way you will read it.
I am thankful to each and every one who has joined this team that so desires to see the will of God fulfilled in this piece of the earth and in each of these families. THANK YOU.
